It is the duty of the City Council to set policy for the operations of the City, to set millage rates for property taxes, to approve budgets of the various departments, to pass ordinances, and to hear and act on requests for rezoning and annexation.

COUNCIL MEMBERS

Lorraine Allen

Joined the management team in January 2008 and chairs the Finance Committee with standing seats on Utilities and Public Safety.  Lorraine is the Mayor Pro-Tem and the city's representative with the South Fulton Parkway Alliance and Keep South Fulton Beautiful.

Natalie McFadden

Joined the management team in January 2008 and chairs the Streets/Cemetery/Sanitation Committee with standing seats on Utilities and Public Safety.  Natalie receives and follows up immediately on all matters pertaining to the cleanliness of our city.

Laura Mullis

Laura joined the team in February 2008.  She chairs the Police & Fire Committee with standing seats on Parks/ Recreation as well as Streets/Cemetery/Sanitation.

Gregory Rusch

Serving his second four year term, Gregory chairs the Building and Grounds Committee.  He also holds standing seats on the Utilities and Streets/Cemetery/ Sanitation committees.  Gregory has assisted Palmetto Community Association for over 5 years with many community based events.

Leon Sumlin

With over 10 years of city government experience, Councilman Sumlin chairs the Recreation/Parks Committee, and holds standing seats on the Finance and Public Safety committees.  Councilman Sumlin has played a pivotal role in establishing a basketball league for the city's youth and initiating an ongoing collaboration with Palmetto Elementary School.

Lucinda Rockemore

Our newest Council Member joined us in January 2010.  Lucinda served as the Chair for the Zoning Board of Appeals before running for Council.  She has also been president of the Palmetto Neighborhood Watch.
